Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Akordans platform ("the Platform") at akordans.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. What Akordans Is — and Is Not

Akordans is a technology platform that facilitates dispute mediation and contract services using AI assistance. Akordans is not a law firm. Nothing on the Platform constitutes legal advice. We strongly recommend seeking independent legal counsel for complex or high-value matters.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements. If using the Platform on behalf of a company, you represent that you have the authority to bind that company to these Terms.

4. Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • You must provide accurate and truthful information
  • You may not share your login credentials with others
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
  • You may not use the Platform for fraudulent, illegal, or harmful purposes

5. Mediation Services

  • Akordans facilitates mediation but does not guarantee any outcome
  • Both parties must voluntarily participate — Akordans cannot compel participation
  • AI-generated resolutions are not automatically legally binding unless both parties formally agree
  • Our resolution team reviews all AI outputs before they are delivered to parties
  • Submitting false, forged, or altered evidence is strictly prohibited and may be reported to relevant authorities

6. Contract Services

  • AI-generated contracts are drafting assistance only — not legal advice
  • Akordans is not liable for the legal validity, enforceability, or suitability of any contract drafted on the Platform
  • You are solely responsible for reviewing all contracts before signing
  • We recommend independent legal review for high-value or complex contracts

7. Payments and Refunds

  • Fees are charged per case or per contract as displayed at the time of purchase
  • Payment is required before AI processing begins
  • Refund policy:
    • Full refund if the other party declines before any AI processing has started
    • No refund once AI processing has begun, except at our discretion
    • Disputed charges must be raised within 30 days at support@akordans.com

8. Intellectual Property

  • Akordans owns all Platform technology, software, design, and branding
  • You retain ownership of all content you upload (evidence, documents, statements)
  • You grant Akordans a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your content solely to deliver the service
  • AI-generated contract drafts become the property of the contracting parties upon finalisation
  • You may not copy, reverse engineer, or reproduce any part of the Platform

9. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Submit false, forged, misleading, or altered evidence
  • Impersonate any person, entity, or Akordans staff member
  • Attempt to manipulate, bias, or deceive the AI systems
  • Use the Platform for money laundering, fraud, or other illegal activities
  • Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
  • Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the Platform
  • Interfere with the Platform's security or availability

10. AI Transparency

Akordans uses AI systems at multiple stages of the process. In compliance with applicable AI regulations:

  • You will always be informed when AI is involved in processing your case
  • AI-generated outputs are reviewed by human staff before consequential decisions are made
  • You have the right to request human review of any AI-generated output
  • AI systems are designed to be impartial and evidence-based

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Akordans' total liability for any claim is limited to the fees paid for the specific case or contract in dispute
  • Akordans is not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages
  • Akordans does not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times or error-free

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Akordans harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Platform.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Belgian law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Brussels, Belgium.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email with at least 30 days notice. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance.
